JAMES MARVEL:
One of the drum and bass scene’s most respected record labels and a firm Zane Lowe favourite, AudioPorn, snapped up James Marvel in 2013 and signed him exclusively thanks to his fresh take on the genre. Having remixed both Dub FX and Xilent to huge effect recently, causing riots on 170+ bpm dancefloors across the globe, he went on to deliver hit single after hit single with titles like Way Of The Warrior, Trump and Dominator, the latter being produced in collaboration with one of drum&bass’ modern era legends June Miller and being released on the renowned RAM Records.

James Marvel pushes further with 3 nominations in 2015’s Drum & Bass Arena Awards in the categories Best Newcomer Producer, Best Track for Way Of The Warior and Best Remix for his remix of Dub FX’s Back To Basics in collaboration with Hypoxia.

Taking the coveted #1 position on Beatport’s Drum & Bass chart within the first week of its release, ‘Way Of The Warrior’ is not only drum and bass at its finest and most energetic, it’s also drum & bass at its most experimental. Fuelled with MC Mota’s off-key spitfire raps and James Marvel’s uncompromising, head-splitting bass. Receiving radio support on BBC 1 by Annie Nightingale, Kiss FM by both Brookes Brothers and Joe Ford, the single has gained DJ support from heavy hitters such as Loadstar, Nymfo, and John B.

After the tremendous success the duo continues to deliver with Trump, another dancefloor-ready heavy hitter supporting MC Mota’s fiendish vocal assault on ‘The Donald’. This tune was in turn remixed to great effect by their Belgian collegue Doctrine, gaining DJ support by other legends like Audio and Noisia.
After this, the duo teamed up with June Miller to write a collaborative release for RAM Records called ‘Dominator’. The team created a stunning videoclip to go with the release and both single and video launched themselves into the echelons of anthem-status within days after release.
To state it in the words of the Beatport editorial: “It’s been since Pendulum’s Tarantula that we had the feeling of discovering such a timeless anthem as Dominator”.
The single went on to take the coveted Nr 1 spot in both singles and releases and even held the number 2 position in Beatport’s general top 100 chart. A feat seldomly accomplished by a drum&bass release.
